For trends, we are still seeing cupcake cakes, but not too many. Green is the 'in' color in all shades and also chocolate brown paired with just about anything: red, blue, pink... Carved cakes (tilted, tapered, bowed, and waisted) are picking up and usually incorporate lots of shiny elements either the cake itself being pearlized or 'bling on a string' crystals on wires and such.

When my clients see my menu, they seem pleasantly surprised that it's more than just the usual standard flavors, and they often go for a custom flavor, to leave their guests with a lasting memory, not only of the look of the cake, but the taste as well.
